Late Goal Lifts Bulldog Women's Soccer To Home Win Over Tiffin

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over the Tiffin Dragons in non-conference action on Friday (Sept. 15) at the South Athletic Fields.

Freshman midfielder Abigail Gilmore broke a 1-1 tie with just 7:09 to play to finish off the Dragons as the Bulldogs earned their second consecutive home victory.

The Bulldogs put 19 of their 34 total shots on goal, to Tiffin's 10, and controlled possession for much of the first half.

However, it wasn't until 62:46 of the contest that the scoreless tie was broken when Ferris State junior forward Carley Dubbert netted her team-leading fourth goal of the season on a one-timer from sophomore forward Brandi Wagner. Freshman midfielder Bri Rogers also earned an assist on Dubbert's goal.

Tiffin fired back at 79:24 of the match when Svetlana Gudenkova scored unassisted on the breakaway to even the contest at 1-1.

Gilmore's goal just over three minutes later went down as her first career goal and her first career game-winning goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Grace Kraft earned her second win of the season and moved to 2-3-0 overall with a nine save effort, including an acrobatic diving stop late in the opening half to preserve a then 0-0 tie.

For the Dragons, Samantha Ortenzi made 17 saves on 19 shots on goal in the loss.

Ferris State evened their record at 3-3-0 with the victory and next takes on the Ashland Eagles at home on Sunday (Sept. 17) starting at 12 p.m. (ET) on the South Athletic Fields.
