Bulldog Soccer Drops Opening Game Of Upper Peninsula Swing

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team fell to the Northern Michigan Wildcats 2-1 on Friday afternoon (Oct. 20) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play in Marquette, Mich.

Ferris State's lone goal came on a penalty kick goal scored by freshman midfielder Bri Rogers late in the second half. It was Rogers fourth goal of the season.

Senior forward Rachel Fouts led the team with five total shots, including two on goal. Sophomore forward Brandi Wagner had three shots while freshman midfielder Kira Budzynski netted two shots. 

Additionally, FSU junior forward Carley Dubbert, senior forward Mackenzie Dawes and Rogers all had a single shot on goal as well. 

Sophomore goalkeepers Grace Craft and Alison Chesterfield combined to make three saves on the day as the Wildcats managed to score a pair of goals with only five total shots on goal for the contest.

Overall, Ferris State compiled 14 shots with six on goal. The Bulldogs also had seven corner kick tries.

The Wildcats totaled 10 shots with five on goal and also had two corners while making five saves.

With the setback, the Bulldogs dropped to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in the GLIAC. 

The Bulldogs play their final GLIAC regular-season game on Sunday (Oct. 22) against the Michigan Tech Huskies at 12 p.m. (ET) in Houghton, Mich.
