Bulldog Soccer To Host GLIAC Tourney Quarterfinal Round Contest On Halloween

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team has officially clinched a quarterfinal-round home contest for the upcoming Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament.

The Bulldogs will be the number three seed for the league postseason event and host sixth-seeded Saginaw Valley State on Tuesday, Oct. 31, in quarterfinal-round action at the South Athletic Fields on the FSU campus. The contest will get underway at 3 p.m. (ET).

The other first-round league tourney matchups include #1 seed Grand Valley State hosting #8 Michigan Tech along with #4 Tiffin entertaining #5 Davenport. Finally, #2 seed Ashland hosts #7 Northern Michigan on Oct. 31.

The winner of each of the four quarterfinal-round contests will advance to the league semifinals on Friday, Nov. 3, at the site of the highest remaining seed. The league championship match is on Sunday, Nov. 5, at the same location.

The Bulldogs will be making their eighth consecutive GLIAC Tournament appearance this season and 10th overall in program history. FSU has advanced to the conference semifinals three times in the last five years to date.

Presently, the Bulldogs are 10-7 overall and finished conference regular-season action with a 6-3 GLIAC mark this season. FSU beat SVSU 2-1 at home in the only previous matchup between the two teams this season back on Sept. 24 in Big Rapids.

Thus far, FSU has featured a balanced attack this season with the second most goals scored in league play (23) as well as the second fewest goals allowed in conference matches (7).

Prior to the GLIAC Tournament, FSU has one final regular-season contest remaining as the Bulldogs will host rival Grand Valley State in a non-league contest this Friday, Oct. 27, starting at 4 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids. The Lakers won the league tilt between the two teams earlier this year in a highly-competitive 1-0 decision in Allendale.
