Ferris State Soccer Shuts Out Indianapolis On Road For Second-Straight Win

Indianapolis, Ind. – The Ferris State University women's soccer team opened a seven-match road stretch with its second straight victory in non-conference regional action as the Bulldogs scored a 3-0 win over the Indianapolis Greyhounds at Key Stadium on Friday (Sept. 7).

Ferris State redshirt freshman Taryn Meiste picked up a shutout victory in her first career collegiate action, making five stops in goal for the Bulldogs.

For the second consecutive outing, the Bulldogs showed quick-strike capability, and opened up a 1-0 lead at 7:46 on freshman Grace VerHage's second goal of the season and second in as many contests.

It took only 2:13 for the Bulldogs to extend the lead to 2-0 less than 10 minutes into the contest when sophomore Abigail Gilmore finished off a scramble in front of the Greyhound cage for her first goal of the season. Junior Maddie Fouts picked up her second assist of the season on the goal.

Early in the second half, senior and captain Carley Dubbert scored her second in as many games and second of the year at 56:32 for the final 3-0 line. Fouts added her second assist of the contest and team-leading third of the year on Dubbert's goal.

Ferris State outshot Indianapolis 10-7 for the game with a 6-5 edge in shots on goal in the contest. Meiste's five-save shutout was good for her first career victory and a 1-0 record on the year. Caitlynn Mackenzie took the loss making three saves in 90 minutes for Indianapolis.

The Bulldogs stay in Indianapolis to take on the Quincy Hawks in non-conference regional action on Sunday (Sept. 9) at 12 p.m. (ET).
