Bulldog Women's Soccer Stretches Win Streak To Six In A Row With Road Victory

Caledonia, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team stretched its win streak to six consecutive contests with a 2-1 non-conference victory over the Davenport Panthers at Meyering Field on Sunday (Sept. 16) in the Grand Rapids area.

Ferris State dominated possession for much of the game, outshooting Davenport 30-9 with a 12-5 shots on goal margin.

The Bulldogs got on the board at 26:02 when senior captain Carley Dubbert laced a shot between Davenport keeper Macie DeWyse's legs on a run for her third goal of the season. Freshman Pia Nagel picked up her first assist of the season on Dubbert's goal that put the Bulldogs up 1-0.

Midway through the second half, Ferris State extended the lead to 2-0 when sophomore Mackenzie Dawes rolled a shot across the cage just inside the right goal post for her first goal of the year and eventual game-winning marker. Dubbert earned her third assist of the season on the play.

The two-goal lead lasted 91 seconds, as the Panthers capitalized on a penalty kick from Roheema Bennett at 68:34 to cut the Bulldog lead to 2-1.

Ferris State spurred a flurry of late chances to bleed the clock away for the 2-1 victory.

The Bulldogs had 12 corner attempts and didn't allow one for the Panthers.

In goal, Alison Chesterfield picked up the win with four saves while DeWyse took the loss, making 10 saves in the effort.

Ferris State heads to the Upper Peninsula to open conference play and close a seven-match road stretch when they take on the Michigan Tech Huskies on Friday (Sept. 21) at Sherman Field with kickoff set for 7 p.m. (ET) in Hougton.
