Highlights & Postgame Video

Big Rapids, Mich. – The nationally 14th-ranked Ferris State University women's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to nine consecutive outings with a 2-2 tie against the nationally 18th-ranked Ashland Eagles on Friday (Sept. 28) at the Bulldog Soccer Field.

Ferris State leapt out to a 1-0 led only 5:17 into the contest when sophomore Abigail Gilmore chipped a ball over Ashland keeper Hannah Lee that bounced in off of the far goal post. Sophomore Gabrielle Teodorescu (1) and senior Carley Dubbert (5) picked up assists on Gilmore's second goal of the season.

Late in the half, the Bulldogs added to the lead when sophomore Bri Rogers scored her first goal of the season unassisted when she drilled a free kick into the top left corner over a wall of defenders for a 2-0 lead at 36:17.

The Eagles would cash in twice in the final 10:39 of regulation to tie the game, first when Hannah Simard scored at 79:21, followed by the game-tying goal scored by Rylie Howman at 84:43.

Both teams battled but couldn't find the winner in the extra session, though the Bulldogs had a few strong chances in the second overtime.

Ashland and Ferris State were nearly even most categories, with shots at 19-19 through 110 minutes. The Eagles held a 12-10 margin in shots on goal while both had three total corner kicks.

In goal, Ferris State redshirt freshman Taryn Meiste had a strong showing on 10 saves and moved to 2-0-1 on the season while Ashland's Lee moved to 5-0-3 on eight saves.

Ferris State is back home on Sunday (Sept. 30) to take on the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals in the 20th Anniversary Celebration of Ferris State Women's Soccer starting at 12 p.m. (ET).
