#14 Ferris State Rallies Late To Push Unbeaten Streak To 10-Straight With Double OT Tie

Big Rapids, Mich. – The nationally 14th-ranked Ferris State University women's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to 10-straight with a thrilling come-from-behind effort to tie the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals 1-1 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on Sunday, (Sept. 30) at the Bulldog Soccer Field.

The game was scoreless into the second half when SVSU's Lindsay Stroebel put the Cardinals on the board with her fifth of the year from Olivia Cogo at 63:24.

Though Ferris State pressed for the equalizer, Saginaw Valley State was able to keep the Bulldogs at bay until the final two minutes.

Ferris State head coach Andy McCaslin elected to pull junior goalkeeper Grace Kraft up field for an extra attacker. On the first corner try, the Bulldogs' chance had to be fended off by SVSU keeper Alyssa Watts, resulting in a second corner kick.

On the second attempt, the Bulldogs cashed in, scoring at 88:21 of regulation when sophomore Bri Rogers headed on out of the air for her second of the year and in as many games. Sophomore Abigail Gilmore earned the assist from her crossing pass, which was good for her second of the year.

In the final 65 minutes including both overtimes, the Bulldogs outshot the Cardinals 14-6, but neither team was able to find the net in the extra sessions.

For the outing, Ferris State outshot Saginaw Valley 23-11, though the Cardinals had a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. The Bulldogs were awarded seven corner tries to SVSU's two.

In goal, Kraft earned the tie and moved to 1-1-1, making five saves in the effort, while Watts made three in 110 minutes for the Cardinals.

Now in the midst of a ten-game unbeaten streak, the second longest in program history, the Bulldogs will put it back to the test when they travel to Hammond, Ind., to take on the Purdue Northwest Pride on Friday, Oct. 5 at 3:30 p.m. (ET).
