Ferris State Soccer Wins Fourth In A Row With Road Triumph At Walsh

North Canton, Ohio – The nationally #11-ranked Ferris State University women's soccer team ran its winning streak to four in a row with a 2-1 victory over the Walsh University Cavaliers on Thursday (Sept. 19) at Len Milazzo field in North Canton, Ohio.

The Bulldogs wasted no time jumping in front as junior Gabrielle Teodorescu scored her second goal in as many matches, giving FSU a 1-0 lead at 3:12 of the contest. Junior Mackenzie Dawes picked up her second assist of the year on the goal.

Walsh evened the game a little over five minutes later at 8:43 when Alexis Meffert scored off of a corner kick to knot the game up at a goal apiece.

The goal was the first Ferris State has allowed this season, after 388 minutes and 43 seconds of shutout time that spanned over a little more than four games and a pair of overtime periods. It is the longest into a season Ferris State has ever gone without allowing a goal.

The see-saw affair kept a fast pace as both teams attempted 16 shots in the contest, but the Bulldogs pulled ahead late.

In the second half, at 75:35, sophomore Grace VerHage launched a long shot to the top left corner of the cage to give FSU a 2-1 lead. It came on her first goal of the season, unassisted.

Ferris State was tested in the final minutes as they staved off a Walsh corner try and senior goalkeeper Alison Chesterfield made a late standing save to keep the Cavaliers from evening the contest a second time.

For FSU, Chesterfield made a season-high six stops, earning her fourth win to improve to a 4-0-1 record. WU's Mickey McClanahan made four stops, allowing two goals in the loss for Walsh.

The Bulldogs return home to the Bulldog Soccer Field on Sunday, Sept. 22, to take on Saginaw Valley State in non-conference play starting at 1 p.m. (ET).
