Bulldogs Extend Program Shutout Record In Road Victory At Northwood

Midland, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team jumped out to a 3-0 first half lead and rolled to a 4-0 shutout victory, their 11th of the season, over the Northwood Timberwolves on the road on Sunday, Nov. 3, in non-conference action at Midland Community Stadium.

Ferris State's previous single season shutout record was nine, set in 2016 and matched in 2018. The Bulldogs 0-0 tie with Davenport on Oct. 25 broke the program record.

The Bulldogs jumped ahead at 21:04 when sophomore Grace VerHage scored off a corner kick for her second goal of the season and a 1-0 Bulldog lead.

Later, at 25:46, sophomore Pia Nagel scored off a scramble for a 2-0 FSU lead and her 12th goal of the season. Her 12 goals this season are fifth most in school history, tied with Tammy Unsworth (2006). Nagel now has 29 points, good for seventh best all-time in a single season, passing Emily Rogers' 28 (2001).

Ferris State junior Janelle Quinn scored off a rebound for her first goal of the season at 44:03, giving FSU a 3-0 edge.

In the second half, at 67:44, Ferris State senior Maddie Fouts scored her second goal of the year off a header. Juniors Maddie Dickens (3) and Mackenzie Dawes (7) assisted on Fouts' goal for the 4-0 Bulldog lead.

In goal, Ferris State senior Alison Chesterfield made seven stops. The Bulldogs outshot the Timberwolves 19-10 for the game.

Ferris State is set for a rematch with the Timberwolves on Friday (Nov. 8) at the Bulldog Soccer Field in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET to wrap the regular season.
