Big Rapids, Mich. - A total of eight members of the Ferris State University women's soccer team have earned All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors for the 2021 spring campaign and the Bulldogs landed two major awards as the league unveiled its postseason award recipients on Saturday.

The announcement was made in conjunction with the GLIAC Semifinals and Finals being hosted by Ferris State for the first-time ever in Big Rapids after claiming the league's regular-season championship for the first time in program history.

FSU head coach Greg Henson was tabbed as the 2021 GLIAC Coach of the Year while senior goalkeeper Taryn Meiste (Holland) garnered GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year accolades.

The Bulldogs had four first-team all-conference picks in Meiste along with junior forward Pia Nagel (Karsruhe, Germany), senior midfielder Bri Rogers (Livonia) and senior defender Maddie Dickens (DeWitt). Additionally, three Bulldogs were second-team All-GLIAC choices in senior forward Mackenzie Dawes (DeWitt) along with senior midfielder Abigail Gilmore (Lansing) and junior defender Nikki May (Brownstown) with junior defender Stephanie Scafaria (Kalamazoo) claiming All-GLIAC Honorable Mention accolades.

The GLIAC Coach of the Year, Henson led the Bulldogs to the program's first-ever GLIAC Regular-Season Championship and the number one seed for the conference tournament. The Bulldogs compiled a 7-0-1 regular season, finishing as the league's lone unbeaten team en route to a number 11 national ranking. Ferris State hosted the GLIAC Semifinals for the first time in program history and finished the spring campaign with an 8-1-1 overall mark while giving up only two goals on the year. Henson's squad set a program record for fewest losses in a season while posting a 5-1 mark at home and a 3-0-1 record in road contests this year.

Meanwhile, the GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year, Meiste had an impressive season for the Bulldogs, leading FSU the school's first-ever GLIAC Regular-Season Championship and the right to host the GLIAC Semifinals for the first time in program history. Meiste finished the year with a 7-1 overall record in goal and allowed only two goals on the year for a 0.22 goals against average with 21 saves. She pitched seven shutouts, which was the second-most in program history despite the shortened season, and owned a shutout streak of more than 500 minutes, which was the third-longest mark all-time at FSU. Meiste's play led the Bulldogs to a number 11 national ranking and a final 8-1-1 overall record this year. The Bulldogs allowed only two goals on the year.

Ferris State concluded the spring campaign on Friday (April 30) with a 1-0 setback to defending national champion Grand Valley State in the GLIAC Semifinals. The bulk of the Bulldog roster is slated to return for the fall 2021 season.
