Bulldogs Draw With Wildcats, Run Unbeaten Streak to 11

Big Rapids, Mich. - In a pivotal late-season match between two of the top teams in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), the second-place Ferris State women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with the third-place Northern Michigan Wildcats on Sunday (Oct. 23) at the Bulldog Soccer Field.

With the tie, Ferris State ran its unbeaten streak to 11 games (8-0-3) and stayed in second place in the GLIAC standings headed into the final match of the regular season.

The Bulldogs got a strong performance in goal from sophomore goalkeeper Darya Mosallaei, who made four saves for her sixth shutout of the campaign, bringing her career total to 18 shutouts. With the shutout, Mosallaei, currently second all-time in school history in career shutouts, is now just one clean sheet shy of tying the program record set by Rachel McCollum (19).

One save was credited a team-save as the Bulldogs cleared a chance off the goal line to keep the contest scoreless at 0-0.

In the see-saw affair, Northern Michigan finished with a narrow 20-16 shots advantage in the match, though Ferris State had an 8-5 shots on goal edge for the contest.

Ferris State got a couple of late looks, set up by junior Nicole Oelker, that were just stopped by NMU keeper Ava Wilberding.

The Bulldogs were led in shots by GLIAC scoring leader Isabella Zamborini with five on the day, including two on goal. Northern Michigan's Brooke Pietila had seven shots on the day for the Wildcats.

Ferris State is set to wrap up the 2022 regular season at Saginaw Valley state on Friday (Oct. 28) in University Center with kickoff set for 1 p.m. (ET). The 2022 GLIAC Tournament opens on Tuesday (Nov. 1) on campus sites. Stay tuned to FerrisStateBulldogs.com for more information.
