Big Rapids, Mich. - A pair of Ferris State University women's soccer standouts garnered All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) acclaim for the 2023 campaign and the Bulldogs landed one of the league's major awards as the all-conference squads were announced on Thursday.

FSU rookie forward Katherine Welch (Ada/Grand Rapids Christian) was chosen as the GLIAC's Freshman of the Year Award recipient and also received all-conference second team kudos in voting by the league's member head coaches while junior defender Lindsay Cole (Grand Rapids/Catholic Central) was named to the GLIAC Honorable Mention team.

The GLIAC Freshman of the Year recipient, Welch has helped lead the Bulldogs to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals this season. Welch had a season-best four goals in FSU's 5-0 home win over Purdue Northwest on Oct. 13, which is tied for the second-best single-game effort in program history. Overall, as a freshman, she ranked second in total goals and tied for third in total points among the GLIAC's leaders this season.

Meanwhile, Cole has started all 19 outings this campaign and tallied four assists for FSU with 13 shots and five shots on goal as one of the league's top outside back players.

The Bulldogs will face top-seeded Northern Michigan in the GLIAC Tourney Semifinals on Friday (Nov. 10) in Marquette starting at 2 p.m. (ET).
