Bulldog Soccer Falls to Northern Michigan in GLIAC Tournament Semifinals Match

Marquette, Mich. – The Ferris State University women's soccer squad fell in a 4-1 setback against Northern Michigan University in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals on Friday (Nov. 10) in Marquette. 

The Bulldogs end their season 7-9-4 overall with the semifinal-round loss to the Wildcats. Northern Michigan will play host to Wisconsin-Parkside in the GLIAC Tournament Championship on Sunday (Nov. 12) after the Rangers topped Grand Valley State 1-0 in the other semifinal match Friday. 

In the Bulldogs' setback to Northern Michigan, Lauren Kubacki started at goalkeeper. She made six saves and allowed four goals in 77 minutes of action. Keelee Griffin played in the final 13 minutes, making a save.

Northern Michigan built a 4-0 lead with goals from Molly Pistorius (4:34), Calihan Bearden (39:06), Madison Bilbia (55:47) and Pistorius (63:29) for the second time. Bearden and Bilbia's goals came off corner kicks for the Wildcats.

NMU held a 4-0 lead until the 82:12 mark, when Ferris State got its lone goal of the afternoon from senior Isabella Sabo. Her first goal of the year put the Bulldogs on the board, but they were unable to overcome the deficit.

Ferris State had seven shots on goal, two corner kicks, 14 fouls and seven saves. Northern Michigan put 11 shots on target, took five corner kicks, committed 11 fouls and made six saves. 

For the season, Katherine Welch was named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year and made the All-GLIAC Second Team. She led the Bulldogs with eight goals and 17 points. Senior Payton Price had seven goals and 17 points and Lindsay Cole was a GLIAC Honorable Mention choice. Kubacki led the Bulldog goalkeepers with a 3-1 record, 0.80 GAA and .875 save percentage. Darya Mosallaei had four shutouts in 12 starts for Ferris State.
