Big Rapids, Mich. - Two Ferris State University women's tennis
players, juniors Amy Ingle (Battle Creek/Hastings)
and Tiffany Rheynard (Kalamazoo/Gull Lake),
recently capped the fall season by earning All-Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) recognition.
Ingle was one of nine players tabbed to the All-GLIAC First Team
while Rheynard was among 12 honorable mention honorees in voting
conducted by the league's head coaches.
Northwood's Darina Berkova was recognized as the GLIAC Player of
the Year with teammate Svenja Stephan claiming Freshman of the Year
laurels and Findlay head coach Tomas Menec chosen as the league's
Coach of the Year Award recipient.
Ingle and Rheynard guided the Bulldogs to a fifth-place
performance at the 2009 GLIAC Tournament (Oct. 24-25) held in East
Lansing. FSU wrapped up the fall campaign with a 7-5 overall
mark and placed tied for fifth with a 5-4 league record.
The 5-4 Ingle, who previously attained All-GLIAC Second Team
kudos in 2008-09, recorded a 8-4 overall singles record and was 5-6
in doubles play this fall. She won six of her nine GLIAC matches at
the number one flight in the FSU lineup. Meanwhile, she registered
a 5-3 league doubles record in dual action at the top spot in the
lineup while pairing with Rheynard. Currently, Ingle owns a 31-27
career singles ledger and is 25-32 in doubles action during her
Bulldog career to date.
Meanwhile, Rheynard finished 4-7 overall at the number two
position in the singles lineup for the fall season. She was
also 5-6 in doubles play while teaming with Ingle for all 11
encounters. Rheynard posted a 4-5 league singles record at
the second spot and owns career marks of 19-23 overall in both
singles and doubles competition to date in her career.
The Bulldogs are tenatively slated to open up the spring season on
Feb. 20 with a non-league home encounter versus Lewis (Ill.) at the
FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids. Match time is
set for 10 a.m. (ET).
