Bulldog Women's Tennis Suffers First Loss
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis
team posted convincing wins near the bottom of the lineup, but
visiting Michigan Tech used a strong top-half performance to record
a narrow 5-4 win over the Bulldogs in Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on Saturday (Sept. 26) at the FSU
Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.
Ferris won the bottom three singles flights in straight-sets and
took the third doubles position by an 8-0 score. However, the
Huskies captured the top three singles flights and won both first
and second doubles to register the victory.
FSU dropped to 2-1 both overall and in league competition with its
first loss of the season while the Huskies improved to 2-2 overall
and in the conference.
Sophomore Melissa Flowers and senior
Daniela Dimas both won a pair of matches in the
outing as they teamed up for an 8-0 triumph at the third doubles
spot. Both were also winners at the fifth and sixth singles
flights, respectively, by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.
The Bulldogs' only other win came from freshman Tabitha
Simpson at the fourth singles flight by a score of 6-1,
