FSU Women's Tennis Rolls Past LSSU

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team got back on track with a decisive 8-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) victory over Lake Superior State on Saturday (Sept. 25) in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

The Bulldogs rolled to the league triumph while improving to 5-1 overall and in conference action.  The match took place at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center.

Ferris took a 2-1 lead following doubles play by capturing wins at both the first and second flights.  LSSU managed its lone victory of the day at third doubles where Tess Marton and Kaitlynn Hutchinson topped FSU's Tabitha Simpson (Copley, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary's) and Natalie Diorio (Byron Center) by a 9-8 (7-3) score.

FSU then captured all six singles flights, including three-set victories at both the fourth and fifth positions by Melissa Flowers (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) and Simpson, respectively.

Ferris wraps up its trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula by visiting Michigan Tech on Sunday (Sept. 26) for a 10 a.m. (EDT) encounter in Houghton.
