FSU Women's Tennis Heads To GLIAC Tourney
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis
team will open play in the 2010 Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on Friday (Oct. 22) evening
in Midland, Mich.
The three-day event runs thru Sunday (Oct. 24) and will take place
at the Midland Community Tennis Center.
FSU will be the third overall seed in the eight-team field and face
sixth-seeded Michigan Tech in the first round for the second
consecutive year on Friday night at 6:45 p.m. (ET).
The second round of the tournament will be on Saturday (Oct. 23) at
3:45 p.m. (ET) with the final round of play set for Sunday (Oct.
24) starting at 9:30 a.m. (ET).
Grand Valley State holds down the top seed heading into the
tournament with Northwood listed second and FSU third.
Ferris State wrapped up regular-season play with a 9-2 overall mark
while placing third in conference action. The Bulldogs
recorded a 7-2 regular-season road win over MTU in Houghton earlier
this fall (Sept. 26).
Last season, the Bulldogs finished fifth overall at the 2009 GLIAC
Tournament held in East Lansing, Mich. Ferris lost a 5-2
decision to Michigan Tech in last year's opening round (10/24/09)
of the event.
Michigan Tech presently holds a 6-5 overall and league mark this
season going into the GLIAC Tournament.
