Ferris Finishes Third At GLIAC Tourney
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis
team wrapped up action in the 2010 Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament with a third-place overall
finish on Sunday (Oct. 24) in Midland, Mich.
The Bulldogs, who entered Friday's opening round of the three-day
event seeded third overall, posted a 5-1 win over four-seeded Wayne
State in Sunday morning's third-place match at the
tournament.
FSU opened the tournament with a 5-2 win over sixth-seeded Michigan
Tech on Friday (Oct. 22) prior to a narrow 5-4 setback versus
number two seed Northwood in Saturday's (Oct. 23) semifinal
round.
Ferris State captured two of the three doubles flights versus Wayne
State on Sunday and then proceeded to win the first three completed
singles matches en route to the victory.
The Bulldogs wrapped up the fall campaign with an 11-3 overall
record and will resume their 2010-11 season in the spring.
The GLIAC Tournament was held at the Midland Community Tennis
Center.
