Women's Tennis Drops GLIAC Home Tilt

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team lost its first match of the 2011-12 campaign as the Bulldogs fell to visiting Wayne State by a 5-4 count on Saturday (Sept. 10) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

The Warriors took the second and third doubles flights to grab an early 2-1 advantage in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match.

FSU was able to split the six singles matches, but the Warriors won three of the top four positions en route to the triumph.

Five of the six singles flights were determined in straight-sets with FSU's Tabitha Simpson winning a three-setter over Wayne State's Daniela Garcia-Diaz at the second flight in the lineup.

Ferris State fell to 3-1 both overall and in league play with the loss in the match, which wrapped up a three-day weekend homestand.

The Bulldogs next return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 13) when they host Hillsdale for a 2 p.m. (ET) league encounter in Big Rapids.
