Women's Tennis Posts Home Win Over MTU

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State women's tennis team improved to 6-2 overall this campaign with a 7-2 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) win over Michigan Tech on Sunday (Sept. 25) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

FSU took advantage of two forfeit victories and also won four of the five contested singles flights to pick up its second consecutive triumph.

In doubles play, the Bulldog tandem of sophomore Ana Jan and senior Melissa Flowers were 8-2 winners at the number one spot in the lineup.  FSU also recorded a forfeit win at third doubles as the two teams were tied 1-1 following the doubles round.

Ferris dominated the singles round for the most part as the Bulldogs picked up straight-set wins at one, three, four and five singles.  MTU's lone victory in singles play came at the second spot in the lineup.

With the win, the Bulldogs also own a 6-2 conference record and have won three of their last four outings to date this campaign.  Michigan Tech fell to 2-4 both overall and in league action with the loss.

The Bulldogs will host West Michigan rival Grand Valley State on Friday, Sept. 30, in a 2 p.m. (ET) GLIAC tilt at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.  It will be Ferris' final conference home match before playing their final three league outings on the road.
