Women's Tennis Wins GLIAC Tourney Match

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team bounced back from an opening-round loss to beat Saginaw Valley State by a 5-1 score in the second round of the 2011 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on Saturday (Oct. 22) afternoon in Midland, Mich.

The fifth-seeded Bulldogs took out the eighth-seeded Cardinals in the contest at the Midland Community Tennis Center after falling in their quarterfinal match to fourth-seeded Ashland on Friday (Oct. 21) night.

FSU bolted out to a 2-1 lead following the doubles round and captured the first three completed singles flights en route to the win.

With the triumph, FSU improved to 9-5 overall this season while the Cardinals fell to 5-9 on the year.

Ferris State will face sixth-seeded Lake Superior State in the sixth-place match at the tournament on Sunday (Oct. 23) starting at 9:30 a.m. (ET).
