Ferris State Storms Past Lake Erie In Home Debut

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team posted a decisive 9-0 triumph over Lake Erie in its 2012-13 home debut on Friday (Sept. 14) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs, who are guided by first-year head coach Chad Berryhill, improved to 3-1 overall and in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play with the home win.  Lake Erie dropped to 0-4 this season.

Ferris State won all seven contested matches and earned forfeit victories at the number six singles flight and third doubles as the Storm had only five players in the lineup.

All six singles matches were claimed in straight-sets with the closest decision coming by a 6-2, 6-0 score at the number one flight.

Additionally, FSU won the two doubles contests by scores of 8-2 and 8-0 at the first and second positions, respectively.

The victory came in the initial home match for the Bulldogs under Berryhill's direction.

Ferris State continues its three-match weekend homestand as the Bulldogs face league newcomer Malone on Saturday (Sept. 15) at 11 a.m. (ET).  FSU then will square off against the other conference newcomer in Walsh on Sunday (Sept. 16) at 10 a.m. (ET) in Big Rapids.
