Women's Tennis Storms Past SVSU To Capture League Home Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team got back on track and opened a three-match Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) home swing with a 7-2 win over Saginaw Valley State in league action on Thursday (Sept. 19) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The Bulldogs improved to 4-4 overall and in GLIAC play with the win, which snapped a two-match losing streak.

Ferris State led 2-1 following the doubles round after capturing wins at the second and third flights in the lineup.  Then, in singles play, FSU took five of six flights to notch the decisive victory.

A total of seven different Bulldog players competed in the match with all seven winning at least one match on the day.  SVSU's lone singles win came at the fourth spot in the lineup.
Four of the Bulldogs' five singles triumphs came in straight-sets while freshman Gabrielle Demchenko won a three-setter at third singles.

Ferris State is back on the court tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 20) as FSU hosts Michigan Tech in a 3 p.m. (ET) league tilt in Big Rapids.  FSU then faces Lake Superior State on Saturday (Sept. 21) starting at 11 a.m. (ET) at the Racquet & Fitness Center.
