Women's Tennis Drops Hard-Fought Consolation Match At GLIAC Tourney

Big Rapids, Mich. – The Ferris State University women's tennis team battled fifth-seeded Walsh, but fell short in a 5-3 consolation decision on day two of the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on Saturday (Oct. 26) in Midland, Mich.

The Cavaliers jumped out to a 2-1 lead following doubles play against the eighth-seeded Bulldogs and then managed to win three of the first five completed singles flights to take the win.

With the loss, the Bulldogs will now face Ashland on Sunday (Oct. 27) morning in the seventh-place match at the GLIAC Tournament starting at 8:30 a.m. (ET).  The league tournament is again being held at the Midland Community Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs' third doubles tandem of Jessica Wilcox and Sydney Berens were 8-6 winners in tandem action while FSU also received singles wins from freshman Gabrielle Demchenko at the third spot in the lineup along with Wilcox at six singles.

Ferris State fell to 7-9 overall this season with the loss while Walsh improved to 13-5 on the year.
