Ferris State Women's Tennis Suffers Setback In Opening Match Of Spring Trip
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad opened up its annual spring break trip with a 7-2 non-conference setback at Northwestern Ohio on Saturday (March 8) in Lima, Ohio.
The Racers, who are a member of the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), took two of the three doubles flights and then captured the bottom five singles positions to earn the win over the Bulldogs.
Ferris State's lone singles win came from senior Ana Jan at the number one flight by a 6-1, 6-0 count. In doubles play, the Bulldogs' second tandem of Janie Sell and Sydney Berens were 8-4 winners.
The loss dropped FSU to 8-15 overall this season with Northwestern Ohio improving to 7-4 overall by virtue of the victory.
The Bulldogs will next travel to Georgia to face highly-regarded Valdosta State on Tuesday (March 11) starting at 11 a.m. (ET). FSU then faces Flagler on Wednesday (March 12) in St. Augustine, Fla., before squaring off against Georgia College in its final match of the spring trip on Friday (March 14).
