Bulldog Women's Tennis Registers Decisive Season-Opening Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team started its 2014-15 campaign off on a winning note as the Bulldogs posted a decisive 9-0 victory over Lake Superior State in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action on Saturday (Sept. 6) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs utilized five newcomers in the singles lineup, who all saw their first action in the Bulldog program.

Ferris State started off the day by sweeping the doubles round by scores of 8-2, 8-2 and 8-0 at the three flights to build a 3-0 match lead over the Lakers heading into singles competition.

In singles play, Ferris State rolled to straight-set wins at all six flights with the closest coming by a 6-2, 6-3 count at the number one spot.

A total of seven different FSU players saw action in the victory.

Ferris State continues its season-opening three-match homestand by hosting Michigan Tech on Sunday (Sept. 7) in a 10 a.m. (ET) league encounter at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
