Women's Tennis Suffers First Setback Of Year In League Road Match At Northwood

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team suffered its first setback of the 2014 campaign on Wednesday (Sept. 17) as the Bulldogs dropped an 8-1 decision to Northwood in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action.

The Bulldogs fell to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in GLIAC play with the setback in Midland. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves improved to 3-0 overall and in conference competition.

Northwood swept the doubles round, which included an 8-1 decision at the number one flight, and then took five of the six singles flights to record the win.

FSU's lone victory came at the number two singles position where Shawnee-Ann Brelsford was a 6-2, 6-4 winner for the Bulldogs.

Ferris Staet returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 20) as the Bulldogs visit Wayne State for a 1 p.m. (ET) league encounter in Detroit. FSU then visits Hillsdale on Sunday (Sept. 21) with match time also set for 1 p.m. (ET) in Hillsdale, Mich.
