Ferris State Women's Tennis Back On Track After Sunday Road Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team got back on track Sunday (Sept. 21) as the Bulldogs registered a 7-2 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road win over the Hillsdale Chargers.

The Bulldogs improved to 5-2 overall this campaign along with 4-2 in league action while snapping a two-match losing skid. Meanwhile, the Chargers fell to 2-5 overall with the setback on their home court at the Biermann Center in Hillsdale.

Ferris State took a 2-1 lead following doubles play with victories at the first and third flights in the lineup by identical 8-5 scores.

In singles competition, the Bulldogs won the top two flights in straight-sets and did likewise by sweeping the fourth thru sixth positions.

Hillsdale's lone victories in the match came at two doubles and the third singles flight.

Three Bulldogs were double winners on the day as Noelly Longi Nsimba, Olga Martinsone and Janie Sell all recorded a pair of triumphs. Overall, the Bulldogs utilized seven different competitors in the encounter.

Ferris State will resume GLIAC play on Saturday, Oct. 4, as FSU continues a six-match league road swing with a visit to Findlay for a 1 p.m. (ET) afternoon match. FSU then wraps up the stretch away from home against Tiffin on Oct. 5 in Tiffin, Ohio.
