Bulldogs Fall In First Round Of GLIAC Tourney In Close Match Against Tiffin

Big Rapids, Mich. - An early start in doubles play helped the Tiffin Dragons post a 5-4 win over Ferris State in the opening round of the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Tennis Tournament on Friday (Oct. 24) night at the Midland Community Tennis Center.

The fourth-seeded Dragons captured wins at the second and third doubles flights to grab a 2-1 lead heading into singles action. Then, the two teams split the six singles spots as TU earned the triumph versus the fifth-seeded Bulldogs.

Ferris State received a doubles win from Noelly Longi Nsimba and Olga Martinsone by a 8-0 count at the top doubles spot.

Additionally, in sinlges action, Longi Nsimba was a straight-set winner at two singles while Martinsone picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the fourth spot in the lineup and Celia De Bondt pulled out a straight-set win at the fifth position.

Tiffin's singles wins came at the one, three and six flights overall.

The Bulldogs will next square off against eighth-seeded Saginaw Valley State in the consolation round on Saturday (Oct. 25) starting at 3:45 p.m. (ET) in Midland. The final round takes place on Sunday (Oct. 26) beginning at 8:30 a.m. (ET).
