Women's Tennis Bounces Back To Claim Win At GLIAC Tournament

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team bounced back from its opening-round setback in the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament in a big way as the Bulldogs rolled past Saginaw Valley State 5-1 on Saturday (Oct. 25) evening in Midland.

The Bulldogs, seeded fifth in the draw, handled the eighth-seeded Cardinals in convincing fashion after suffering a close 5-4 loss to fourth-seeded Tiffin in Friday's opening round of the conference tournament.

In the win over Saginaw Valley State, the Bulldogs took wins at the first and third doubles flights by 8-1 and 8-3 scores, respectively, to grab a 2-1 lead following doubles play.

FSU then won the first three completed singles flights to earn the victory as Noelly Longi Nsimba, Matilda Ackered and Olga Martinsone swept the second thru fourth spots in the Bulldog lineup. The other three singles flights went unfinished after FSU offically claimed the win.

The Bulldogs will square off against seventh-seeded Walsh in Sunday's fifth place match at the conference tournament starting at 8:30 a.m. (ET) at the Midland Community Tennis Center.
