Indianapolis Claims Battle Of Regionally-Ranked Women's Tennis Teams

Big Rapids, Mich. - Visiting Indianapolis proved to be too much for the Ferris State University women's tennis team on Saturday (Feb. 28) as the Greyhounds scored a 8-1 triumph over the Bulldogs in regional play at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

Indianapolis, which is ranked fifth in the Midwest Region, took two of the three doubles matches and then swept the six singles flights against the regionally seventh-ranked Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs, who mixed up the lineup due to injury, received a 9-7 victory at third doubles from the tandem of Sydney Berens and Janie Sell. However, the Greyhounds also won a 9-7 decision at the first spot and scored a 8-3 triumph at two doubles to build a 2-1 lead in the match.

In singles play, all six flights were determined in straight-sets and won by the Greyhounds.
Ferris State fell to 13-6 overall this season with the setback.

The Bulldogs are next back in action on Sunday (March 1) as FSU wraps up the weekend by visiting NCAA Division I Western Michigan. Match time is set for 11 a.m. (ET) in Kalamazoo, Mich.
