Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team picked up its 18th victory of the 2014-15 campaign as the Bulldogs held off Davenport University for a 5-4 non-league road triumph on Tuesday (March 31) at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids.

The Bulldogs improved to 18-8 on the year with the victory, which came in FSU's first match since a road win at Florida Southern to wrap up their annual spring break trip on March 12.

The win was the third-straight to date for the Bulldogs and fifth in the last six outings for head coach Chad Berryhill's team. Davenport fell to 8-8 overall with the setback.

FSU built a 3-0 lead over the Panthers as the Bulldogs swept the doubles round, but Davenport rallied back in singles action. DU took four of the six singles spots, including a victory by retirement at the sixth position in the lineup.

However, Ferris State received key wins from sophomore Olga Martinsone at four singles and freshman Arien Kissinger at the fifth flight in the lineup to pull out the win.

The Bulldogs are currently ranked seventh in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Rankings.

Ferris State is next slated to play its final regular-season match of the year Thursday (April 2) as the Bulldogs visit Lewis (Ill.) for a 12 p.m. (ET) non-league tilt in Romeoville, Ill.
