Bulldog Women's Tennis Completes Unbeaten First Weekend With Sweep At Michigan Tech

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team completed its first weekend of action with a perfect mark as the Bulldogs beat Michigan Tech by a 9-0 count on Sunday (Sept. 6) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at Houghton, Mich.

The Bulldogs, who won their season opener over Lake Superior State by an 8-1 score on Saturday, capped off the first week of league play with a dominating performance versus the Huskies at MTU's Gates Tennis Center.

Ferris State jumped out to a 3-0 lead following doubles play with an early sweep, including a pair of tightly-contested matches at the top two spots in the doubles lineup.

In singles play, the Bulldogs then finished off Michigan Tech by taking all six flights. The six singles wins included three-set triumphs at both the second and fifth positions in the lineup.

Overall, a total of eight FSU players saw action in the win as FSU improved to 2-0 overall and in conference action to date this year.

Ferris State will return home to begin a four-match league homestand versus Saginaw Valley State on Sunday, Sept. 13, at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids. Match time is set for 10 a.m. (ET).
