Bulldog Women's Tennis Falls To Tiffin In Close Sunday Encounter

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team couldn't quite complete a weekend home sweep as the Bulldogs came out on the short end of a close 5-4 decision versus Tiffin on Sunday (Oct. 4) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

The Bulldogs, who opened the weekend at home by sweeping Findlay on Saturday, fell behind early versus the Dragons as Tiffin took two of the three doubles flights.

FSU managed to get singles wins at the second, fifth and sixth flights in the lineup, but Tiffin pulled out wins at the first, third and fourth spots to record the victory.

Ferris State's wins included the doubles tandem of Matilda Ackered and Olga Martinsone at the second position along with singles victories from Nika Hein, Martinsone and Nicole Meylor.

The match represented the final regular-season home match this fall for the Bulldogs.

With the win, Tiffin improved to 6-3 overall and 5-3 in league play while Ferris State is now 5-3 overall and also in the GLIAC.

The Bulldogs hit the road for their final three conference regular-season matches starting with a visit to Ashland on Saturday, Oct. 10, for a 10 a.m. (ET) encounter. FSU then visits Walsh on Sunday (Oct. 11) before traveling to Allendale to face rival Grand Valley State on Oct. 15.
