Bulldog Women's Tennis Falls To GVSU In Final Fall Regular-Season Tilt

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad suffered an 8-1 setback to West Michigan rival Grand Valley State on Wednesday (Oct. 19) as the Bulldogs wrapped up the fall regular-season conference slate at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

Visiting GVSU jumped out to an early 3-0 lead following the doubles round and then proceeded to win five of the six singles flights against FSU in the outdoor match.

The Bulldogs' lone win of the day came at three singles where Nicole Meylor posted a three-set victory over the Lakers' Abby Perkins by a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 score. It came despite moving up a position in the singles round.

Grand Valley State, which improved to 9-2 overall, received a pair of key three-set singles wins at the first and second flights in the lineup.

Ferris State dropped to 7-4 overall and in league action with the setback.

The Bulldogs will next take part in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament set for Oct. 28-30 in Midland. Official pairings will be announced later this week by the league office following the conclusion of regular-season action.
