Women's Tennis Wraps Up Opening Weekend At ITA Regional Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team officially opened its season this weekend (Sept. 22-24) as the Bulldogs took part in the 2017 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Northwood University.

FSU's Nicole Meylor led the way in singles action as she won her opening round match before falling in the second round.

Meylor also teamed up with Silvia Verebes in doubles play to win their first match by a 8-4 score before falling in the round of 16.

In the doubles consolation draw, the FSU tandem of Arien Kissinger and Adriana Fabrizio advanced to the semifinals before bowing out of the draw.

Overall, a total of five different Bulldog competitors saw action in the weekend competition.

The Bulldogs will officially open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) dual action on Saturday (Sept. 30) as they visit Purdue Northwest for a 10 a.m. (ET) league encounter. FSU then visits Davenport on Sunday (Oct. 1) with match time also set for 10 a.m. (ET) in Grand Rapids.
