Ferris State Rolls Past Purdue Northwest In GLIAC Women's Tennis Opener

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team opened Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action in impressive fashion as the Bulldogs topped Purdue Northwest 8-1 on Saturday (Sept. 30) in their league opener.

The Bulldogs won the tilt at the Community Hospital Tennis Complex in Hammond (Ind.) by sweeping the doubles round and claiming five of the six singles flights.

Ferris State utilized seven different players in the match and all seven had at least one victory in the decisive triumph.

FSU got doubles wins from Nika Hein and Silvia Verebes at the number one flight along with Lauren Lomax and Nicole Meylor at two doubles with Madelyn Groulx and Adriana Fabrizio winning the third flight.

In singles action, Hein, Verebes, Meylor, Lomax and Arien Kissinger swept the first thru fifth positions as FSU rolled to the win.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Sunday (Oct. 1) as they visit Davenport for a 10 a.m. (ET) league tilt in Grand Rapids.
