Ferris State Tennis Closes GLIAC Road Swing With Big Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad got back on track in a big way as the Bulldogs rolled past the Ashland Eagles by a 7-2 count to wrap up a lengthy weekend road swing.

Ferris State won the morning tilt played indoors in Lexington (Ohio) to end its weekend Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road trip with a victory after setbacks at Wayne State on Friday and Tiffin on Saturday.

In the win over the Eagles, the Bulldogs bolted in front early by sweeping the doubles round. FSU also claimed the top four singles positions en route to the triumph.

A quartet of Bulldogs were double winners on the day as Nika Hein, Silvia Verebes, Nicole Meylor and Arien Kissinger all swept both their doubles and singles matches.

The win included a three-set victory from Meylor at the number three flight in the singles lineup along with straight-set wins from Hein, Verebes and Kissinger and #1, #2 and #4, respectively.

In the doubles round, the Bulldogs' pairings of Hein and Verebes along with Teodora Stefanovic and Meylor were identical 8-4 winners and the first and second positions with the number three tandem of Kissinger and Adriana Fabrizio pulling out a 9-7 win.

Ferris State evened its record at 4-4 overall and 4-4 in the GLIAC with the victory.

The Bulldogs will return home to close GLIAC regular-season play this weekend as FSU hosts Northwood on Saturday (Oct. 21) and Saginaw Valley State on Sunday (Oct. 22) with both matches set to begin at 10 a.m. (ET) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
