Ferris State Wraps Up Regular-Season With Tennis Setback To SVSU

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team concluded GLIAC regular-season action with a 7-2 setback to Saginaw Valley State on Sunday (Oct. 22) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The visiting Cardinals jumped out to an early lead by sweeping the doubles round and then took the bottom four singles positions en route to the victory.

FSU's two wins came at the number one and two singles flights and both came in three sets.

Ferris State's Nika Hein was a 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 winner over Shea Donahue at the top flight while Silvia Verebes claimed a 7-6 (4), 3-6, 10-8 triumph at the second spot in the lineup.

With the loss, FSU wrapped up league action with a 4-6 overall mark. SVSU improved to 7-4 on the year and 7-3 in the GLIAC with the road win.

Ferris State will be the number seven seed for the GLIAC Tournament next weekend (Oct. 27-29) in Midland. The Bulldogs will open tourney play on Friday (Oct. 27) against either Grand Valley State or Northwood with final pairings to be announced soon by the league office.
