Bulldog Women's Tennis Falls In Round One At GLIAC Tournament

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad suffered a 5-0 setback to second-seeded Northwood in the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Quarterfinals on Friday (Oct. 27) night in Midland.

The Timberwolves swept the doubles round to grab the early lead on FSU and then took the first two completed singles matches en route to advancing to the semifinal round.

With the setback, Ferris State will drop to the consolation round and compete again on Saturday (Oct. 28) at 3:45 p.m. (ET) versus sixth-seeded Michigan Tech inside the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

In the loss to Northwood, the Timberwolves took the three doubles flights by scores of 8-0, 8-3 and 8-4 from the first to third flights, respectively.

Then, in singles action, NU got straight-set wins at both the second and fifth flights to seal the win.

Ferris State fell to 4-7 overall this season with the league tournament setback.
