Ferris State Tennis Closes GLIAC Tournament With Sweep On Final Day

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad wrapped up its fall season with a shutout victory on Sunday (Oct. 29) on the final day of the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament held at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

The seventh-seeded Bulldogs swept eighth-seeded Ashland 5-0 in the seventh-place match at the league tourney to close the weekend with a 1-2 mark.

FSU took all three doubles flights in strong fashion on Sunday, including wins of 8-2 at both the first and second positions along with 8-5 at three doubles.

In singles play, Ferris State earned wins from Nicole Meylor and Arien Kissinger in straight-sets at the fourth and fifth spots in the lineup, respectively. The two sealed the win by claiming the first two completed singles flights.

With the win over Ashland, FSU closed the fall campaign with a 5-8 overall record.

The Bulldogs will resume action in the spring a non-league schedule prior to selections are made for the NCAA Regional Tournament to be contested in May.
