Ferris State Women's Tennis Pulls Out Regional Victory At Southern Indiana

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team hit the road on Friday (March 2) and came away with its first win of the spring as the Bulldogs beat Southern Indiana 5-4 in regional action in Evansville, Ind.

Ferris State opened up its spring trip action by squaring off against the Screaming Eagles and earned the road win to improve to 6-9 overall this campaign.

The Bulldogs got off to solid start by winning the top two doubles flights to grab a 2-1 lead following the early round.

In singles action, Ferris State managed to win the top three positions with USI taking the last three spots to account for the final score. FSU's Nika Hein won a three-set match at one singles with Silvia Verebes and Nicole Meylor taking the second and third flights in straight-sets each.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday (March 6) as FSU plays the first of three outings in Hilton Head, S.c. Ferris State will face Newberry (S.C.) in day one competition at 11:45 a.m. (ET) before meeting Davis & Elkins (W.Va.) on Wednesday (March 7) and Salem International (W.Va.) on Thursday.
