Ferris State Women's Tennis Captures First Dual Victory Of The Season

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad picked up its first dual victory of the year on Wednesday (Oct. 3) as the Bulldogs stormed past visiting Davenport 7-0 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action.

The Bulldogs evened their record at 1-1 overall and in conference play with the decisive triumph at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

In the doubles round, the Bulldogs captured the top two flights by scores of 6-0 and 6-2, respectively. FSU also earned a win by default at the third spot in the lineup.

Ferris State also emerged victorious in the top four singles positions with all coming in straight-sets. The bottom two singles flights were also claimed by the Bulldogs in forfeit fashion as the Panthers could not field a full lineup.

The doubles round counted as a single point in the final team score per this season's new conference rules.

Ferris State will be back in action at home on Thursday (Oct. 4) as the Bulldogs host Purdue Northwest in league play starting at 6 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids.
