Bulldog Women's Tennis Suffers Road Setback At Michigan Tech

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team had its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) record evened as the Bulldogs fell to Michigan Tech 5-2 in league play on Saturday (Oct. 6) in Houghton.

The Huskies won the doubles round as they took the top two flights to secure the point against FSU, which received a 6-1 victory from Nicole Meylor and Sam Stephenson at the third spot in the lineup.

In singles action, the Huskies garnered wins at the top four positions with FSU earning victories at the fifth and six flights. Brittany Lavenant was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at five singles with Meylor winning 6-2, 7-5 at the sixth position.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 2-2 overall and in the GLIAC as their two-match winning streak was halted by MTU. The Huskies improved to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday (Oct. 7) as they visit Lake Superior State for a 10 a.m. (ET) league encounter in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
