Ferris State Drops League Road Tilt At GLIAC Tennis Rival Northwood

Big Rapids, Mich. - The home court advantage proved to be too much for the Ferris State University women's tennis squad on Saturday (Oct. 20) as the Bulldogs dropped a 6-1 decision to league rival Northwood in Midland.

The Timberwolves claimed the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest by taking all three doubles flights against FSU and winning five of six singles encounters.

In doubles play, NU earned the point with wins by scores of 6-3, 6-1 and 6-3 from the first to third flights, respectively.

FSU's lone win came from Nicole Meylor at the six singles spot in a three-set victory against Northwood's Vasilisa Mikhaylova. However, the Timberwolves won the top five flights in straight-sets to garner the win.

Northwood moved to 8-0 both overall and atop the conference with the victory while FSU fell to 3-5 overall and in the GLIAC. Both teams have clinched berths into the upcoming GLIAC Tournament.

Official pairings for the conference tournament to be held next Friday thru Sunday (Oct. 26-28) at the Midland Community Tennis Center will be announced following the conclusion of regular-season action.

FSU wraps up the regular-season on Sunday (Oct. 21) at Saginaw Valley State with match time set for 12 p.m. (ET) in University Center.
