Ferris State Opens GLIAC Women's Tennis Tourney On Friday Night In Midland

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team has officially earned a berth and will open play in the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on Friday (Oct. 26) evening in Midland, Mich.

The three-day event runs thru Sunday (Oct. 28) and will take place at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

FSU will be the fifth overall seed in the eight-team field and face fourth-seeded Wayne State in the first round on Friday night at 6:45 p.m. (ET).

The second round of the tournament will be on Saturday (Oct. 27) at 3:45 p.m. (ET) with the final round of play set for Sunday (Oct. 28) starting at 8:15 a.m. (ET).

Grand Valley State holds down the top seed heading into the tournament with Northwood listed second and Michigan Tech third.

Ferris State wrapped up regular-season play with a 4-5 overall mark while placing fifth in conference action during the regular-season. The Bulldogs climbed three spots in the league race from a year ago and closed out the regular-season with their best performance of the year on Sunday (Oct. 21), beating Saginaw Valley State on the road by a 7-0 score.

Currently, WSU holds a 8-2 overall record going into the GLIAC Tournament and was 7-2 in league action during the regular-season. The Warriors beat the Bulldogs in the only regular-season matchup 6-1 on Oct. 13 at FSU's Racquet and Fitness Center.
