FSU Women's Tennis Bounces Back For Big Win On Day Two At GLIAC Tourney

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad bounced back in a big way on day two of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament as FSU beat Ashland on Saturday (Oct. 27) by a 4-2 score at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

The fifth-seeded Bulldogs, who had fell to fourth-seeded Wayne State on Friday night in round one, came back to beat the eighth-seeded Eagles.

Ashland took the early lead against Ferris State by winning two of the three doubles flights to pick up the first point of the match. FSU did get a win from Nicole Meylor and Sam Stephenson by a 6-1 score at two doubles.

In singles action, though, FSU captured four of the five completed flights to pull out the win.

Ferris State got straight-set wins from Nika Hein and one singles along with Brittany Lavenant, Meylor and Patricia Martin Gomez at the four thru six flights, respectively.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 5-6 overall this campaign.

Ferris State will face sixth-seeded Lake Superior State for fifth place in the final day of conference tournament action on Sunday (Oct. 28) starting at 8:15 a.m. (ET) in Midland.
