Bulldog Women's Tennis Pulls Out Big Regional Road Victory At Lewis

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team scored a big regional road win on Friday (Feb. 15) as the Bulldogs topped Lewis (Ill.) by a 5-2 count at the Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill.

The Bulldogs pulled out the victory in spring action after being swept by the Flyers only a year ago.

In Friday's match, the Bulldogs opened up with the early edge as they captured all three doubles flights to take the opening point of the outing. FSU handled Lewis in doubles action, beating the Flyers' by scores of 6-3, 6-4 and 6-2 from the first to third flights, respectively.

Meanwhile, in singles play, Ferris State got wins in four of the six spots to earn the victory.

The Flyers pulled within 3-2 in the match by taking the first and fourth singles positions, but FSU garnered wins in three-set fashion at both two and three singles from Isabela Paixao and Nicole Meylor, respectively. The Bulldogs' Brittany Lavenant and Silvia Verebes were also both victorious in straight-sets at five and six singles.

Ferris State evened its record at 7-7 overall this season with the triumph.

The Bulldogs will host Tiffin on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m. (ET) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
