Women's Tennis Beats Tiffin For First Time In Seven Years For Third-Straight Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team recorded its third consecutive victory as the Bulldogs edged Tiffin 4-3 on Saturday (Feb. 23) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in regional action.

The Bulldogs tallied their first win over the Dragons since 2012 to cap a successful week of action which saw FSU garner two regional wins over Lewis and Tiffin along with a non-league home triumph over West Michigan opponent Calvin on Thursday evening.

In Saturday's win, the Bulldogs claimed the doubles point with wins at the second and third flights before coming back to split the six singles contests.

Ferris State's doubles victories came by 6-3 and 6-0 counts and the numbers two and three spots, respectively, with Tiffin's lone win by a 6-4 score at the first flight.

In the singles round, the Bulldogs dropped the third, fourth and fifth flights, but managed to claim a straight-set win at the second position and a three-set victory from Silvia Verebes at six singles. FSU also recorded a win by retirement at the number one flight.

With the win, Ferris State improved to 9-7 overall this season.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Monday, March 11, as FSU opens its spring break trip to Florida against Eckerd. Match time is set for 3 p.m. (ET).
