Bulldog Women's Tennis Drops Final GLIAC Regular-Season Match At Wayne State

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team wrapped up regualr-season action on Sunday (Oct. 20) as the Bulldogs dropped a 7-0 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road decision at Wayne State.

The host Warriors captured the win by taking two of the three doubles flights and all six singles positions in the contest.

"The score really does not reflect how well we played," said FSU head coach Mark Doren. "Our team battled really hard all the way to the end. I'm very proud of them. It was great to finish the regular-season with a 6-3 record and improve upon last year's 4-5 mark in the league."

In doubles action, the Bulldog tandem of Sam Stephenson and Morgan Waller earned a 6-3 win at three doubles to account for the FSU victory. Wayne State took the first and second flights to capture the initial point moving into singles competition.

The Warriors managed to win the six singles contests, including a three-set triumph at two singles where Linda Liong held off FSU's Agata Klak. Several of the other singles matches were also closely contested in the league encounter.

With its 6-3 overall fall record, the Bulldogs will be one of the top four seeds for the upcoming GLIAC Tournament, which takes place Oct. 25-27 in Midland.

Official matchups and seedings for the league championships will be announced soon by the conference office.
